LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – National Field Services (NFS) announced its Chief Executive Officer, Doug Powell, has stepped down from day-to-day operations and will continue leading the executive team as Chairman of the Board effective November 2018.
NFS was founded in 1996 by Powell as an affiliate company to National Switchgear (NSG), which was started in 1986 with the primary focus of serving the electrical service shop industry with quality surplus circuit breakers and replacement parts. Powell had one goal when he opened NSG, and that was to operate with integrity and provide customers with unparalleled responsive service and quality equipment.
“I’m so fortunate to have had such a long career in this industry,” Powell said. “Over the years I’ve worked for some great business leaders whom I have learned much from, and I am privileged to have found and worked with a great team of professionals here at National. I’m excited about moving into this new phase of my life, but will truly miss this group of individuals.”
As part of this transition, the President of National Switchgear, Robert Koren, has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer. Having been with National since 1990, Koren is one of Powell’s most trusted partners.
“I’m grateful for the 28 years that I have worked alongside Doug,” Koren said. “He has been an influential leader not only at National, but in the entire industry. As he passes the torch, I hope to follow in his footsteps and carry out his vision for the company.”
Powell said he chose to leave at this time because he believes the management team is ready to take the company to the next level.
“The timing is right for the executive team to take the next steps in their careers,” he said. “They have a great plan for the company, and I have full confidence that they will be able to execute on that vision.”
He said he will use this time to explore other business interests and travel with Arlene, his wife of 40 years.
“When we aren’t traveling, I’m sure you can find us in Frisco, Texas, at a baseball, soccer or basketball game cheering for one of our three grandkids,” he said.
